Booms are linked together, forming an absorbing barrier.

Booms are put around the perimeter of an oil or petroleum based spill. Once the spill is contained, pads and rolls are deployed (they do most of the work). After the majority of the oil is reclaimed, sweeps are dragged across the final sheen.
